Amy’s Fall Skin Routine!
By Amy Lupton
I get asked quite a bit which Liferoot products I personally use… or do I use them at all or all of them at once? haha. I don’t think there would be enough time in the day for that. I DO believe in rotating products according to your skin type and the season, and have seen great results in people when they just switch products. Your body and skin like variety!
So what am I using right now? I would say I am in my “high-maintenance” phase of skin care now, as the dry cool air can be damaging to skin. BUT… I don’t want my fancy high maintenance routine to get in the way of life… so I make it quick, easy and really nourishing. Good clean skin care can be simple, lavish, and keeps the skin looking glowy all winter long. It also doesn’t have to break the bank…as clean, non-toxic skincare can be vastly overpriced & overhyped.
I am using different products morning and evening, but that isn’t required, just part of my high-maintenance routine. 😊
Morning Routine
In the morning, I am using two products that wake me up, wake my skin up, and help protect my skin during the day on all I will encounter. It also gets things a glowing! If I am applying make up, these products will sit well under the makeup and absorb fast do I don’t need to hang in the bathroom longer than I have to.
Step 1: Skin Buzz Beauty Elixir
I love this product first thing in the morning. It’s infused with coffee, vanilla bean and a whole lotta get up and go! This serum is firming, helps with under eye puffiness, and did I mention it smells amazing?
I apply a generous amount and rub in upward circles to wake up my face and get the lymph moving. After that, I rub along my jawline from my chin to my ear, then down my neck. This helps move stagnant lymph and makes the skin less puffy.
Also, because this is an oil, it will help remove any oily residue I acquired in the night leftover from my evening routine or my pillowcase. Did you know your detox mechanisms in your body will dock toxins on your skin from the night as your body is cleansing and repairing? You can wake up to more oily skin than you went to bed with. Your skin is your largest organ and a wonderful detox pathway. This is another reason why it’s beneficial to use an oil cleanser in the morning. If you don’t like the smell of coffee, any of our oil serums will work great for the morning routine!
I apply the oil, then wet a washcloth with very warm water and lay over my face. I allow the steam and warmth to wake me up (take a few deep breaths), then I wipe off excess oil using gentle upward circles. Your face should feel soft and moisturized and awake!
Step 2: Shield Serum
I apply this serum after the Skin Buzz. This is great to protect your skin from pollutants during the day, as well as harmful bacteria. This serum is a lower pH (to match your skin’s acid mantle), which helps the immune system keep the skin in check, not allowing a bunch or bacteria or virus to enter through dry or cracked skin. The oils in this serum also have a slight spf protection.
That’s it! If I am going to apply makeup, I do that after 5 min or so, in the meantime I will go have a glass of room temp water with lemon to get your liver detoxing, while I wake up the kids for the day.
Evening Routine
After a long day, your skin feels and looks tired, ready for bed and rejuvenation! Your skin does its healing while you sleep, so you want to make sure its moisturized well to help the skin repair. As you age, this is really important, sleep and proper skin moisture can do wonders for aging skin.
I make sure to always clean my face in the evening, as you want to remove all the pollutants, make up and excess bacteria you have come into contact with.
I also like to bathe or shower in the evening, so you can do this routine after you bathe, or just wash your face in the shower and then do the rest when you get out.
Step 1: Happy Wash
This is a great foaming cleanser that helps remove oil and water based containments on the face. Its also great at removing makeup too.
We like to use with a konjac sponge to really get a good scrub on. It has a little string to hang in the shower too if you are washing while you bathe.
Step 2: Rose Quartz Toner
This crystal-infused spray can be used as a hydrosol to return the pH of the skin to normal after washing. It also readies the skin for moisturizer. And smells lovely too.
Step 3: Bahava Hydrate
Liferoot's Bhava Hydrate hyaluronic acid serum is a booster for the delicate facial skin. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the skin, and it helps to bind water to collagen, trapping it in the skin, so that skin can appear plumper, dewier, and more hydrated. This serum disappears quickly, leaving a smooth hydrated feel. Hyaluronic acid increases hydration in the skin, which can keep your skin looking fresh, full, and bouncy. When hyaluronic acid is paired with aloe, botanicals, and essential oils, it can deliver a wonderful therapeutic effect along with the hydrated feel. We recommend using this serum before moisturizing or as a hydrating plumping agent before makeup or in the morning.
Step 3: Farm Cream
Great to apply for overnight repair. Only a small amount is needed. 😊 Tallow & Niltotica Shea Butter Cream infused with honey & botanicals. Tallow has been used for centuries in skincare. Its properties are very similar to the natural fats found in skin, so tallow can help with proper moisture, irritation, repair, aging, and damage protection.
Always apply product at least an hour before bed to maximize repair and it not rubbing off on your pillow.
