The first time I ever dry skin brushed was around 39 women in a college nutrition class. It was a funny site for sure. We were all clothed (I see where your mind went there)…and following along in a demo on how to properly dry skin brush. I went home that evening and ordered three skin brushes, one super firm, one with plastic cellulite breaker upper thingys, and a face skin brush.

I was so excited when I got them in the mail, and I rushed right away to the bathroom, stripped down and proceeded to brush my skin the way I had been taught the week before.

About one minute in, I realized I was brushing too hard, and looked at my beet red skin in the mirror. So I eased it up and finished my rounds. I then took a warm shower and just knew the next day I would be firmer, clearer and glowing. Well, as I was hoping for immediate gratification (like most of my skincare regimens used to be based on), it took about a month for me to see a change.

While I go through phases of skin brushing to this day, when I do keep up with it, I definitely do see a difference (especially in the sun-loving months). It is great for vanity to see firmer skin, but it is also very medicinal to the lymphatic system.

Skin brushing is another healthy practice to add to your skincare regimen.

Benefits of Dry Skin Brushing:

  • It exfoliates and brings increased circulation to the skin, thus helping in the renewal of skin cells.

  • The benefits of dry skin brushing are more than just skin deep. Since the skin is responsible for 25% of the body’s daily detoxification and eliminating around 2 pounds of waste acids daily skin brushing can play a significant role in detoxification of the body.

  • It encourages your body’s natural discharge of wastes, aiding drainage of your lymphatic system (whose job it is to remove toxins from the blood and other vital tissues).

  • Helps eliminate clogged pores.

  • Helps absorb nutrients, while aiding in proper excretion of metabolic wastes.

  • Helps with nervous system health. It stimulates nerve endings and rejuvenates the nervous system, keeping you in a parasympathetic state (this is a calm, happy, centered you).

We found when we saw clients that had lymphatic stagnation, skin issues (such as rashes, growths) we would add herbs and oils to the brush and found accelerated results. Thus we created two different kits for our clients to see the results they wanted. Get our Lymphatic Kit & Dry Brushes HERE.

WHEN YOU ADD THE BOTANICAL KICK OF AN SKIN DETOX SPECIAL ESSENTIAL OIL BLEND (JUST A FEW DROPS TO YOUR BRUSH WILL DO) THEN IT CAN REALLY KICK START YOUR PRACTICE AND ACCELERATE YOUR RESULTS.
