Infused Sea Salt
Salt has gotten a bad rap in the last few years (with some merit to hypertension), but it mostly applies to white table salt. Sea salt is a wonderful additive to your diet, and in balanced amounts can be beneficial for your cells, heart, muscles, and adrenal glands. Our ancestors used salt from the sea, ate salty sea vegetables and recognized its benefits on the body. Here are some reasons why a nutritional therapist like me loves salt.
It keeps you hydrated and electrolytes in check~ salt is important in helping you retain balanced minerals and keep the cells happy, especially when exercising or under stress. A pinch of sea salt and a squeeze of lemon has the same effect as a gatorade! and way less sugar and icky food colorings.
Salt is a necessary component in digestion, and is signals the mouth to produce an enzyme amylase to begin digesting our food. A big part of my job with my client is getting their digestion working effectively, and salt can be a component that helps with gas, heartburn, and feeling yucky after a meal.
Salt is amazing for adrenal fatigue. The adrenals are small glands that sit atop the kidneys and play a vital role in regulating hormones and minerals such a potassium. When you are stressed, busy, not sleeping well, eating too much sugar…the adrenals can be stressed. So eating salt can combat some of these things. Also, it is common to have salt cravings when stressed, overworked, or nutritionally imbalanced.
So are you convinced yet that good QUALITY sea salt can be beneficial? I hope so!
What a better way to get salt into your diet than to mix it with amazing herbs for some irresistible mixes that make your food taste amazing? I love these mixes and use them often for various things, as well as giving them as gifts.
Here are my favorite blends, but seriously sky is the limit so get creative!
Tips for buying good sea salt:
There will usually be a color, such as pink, gray, or brown or black.
There will usually be a mineral content listing on the back, check it.
Some will have moisture left in them, not a bad thing.

Amy’s notes and utterances:
Sea salt is stronger than table salt. If you are used to using table salt, you will find you need less to get the job done.
My favorite way to use most of these is to apply to a baked chicken, fish, or veggies. The herbs add so much nutrition to the meal. :)
Jar these up in a small jar, with a wooden spoon, a nice tag label and it can be a perfect gift for many occasions.
I have even used the chili lime salt as a rim salt for a margarita! Did not dissapoint.
